My name is Michael Roybal, and I am proud to call Santa Fe home. This community has shaped who I am, and it is a place where I have built my career, served my neighbors, and developed a deep respect for our judicial system. I am running for Santa Fe County magistrate judge because I believe our courts deserve experience to leadership, rooted in fairness, integrity, and accountability.

Since 2014, I have dedicated my professional career to serving New Mexico’s court system. I began my career at the Santa Fe Magistrate Court as a warrant enforcement clerk before advancing to the First Judicial District Court, where I served as a court clerk and a court monitor. Today, I proudly serve as a Pre-Trial Services Officer with the First Judicial District Court.

Throughout my career, I have worked alongside judges, attorneys, law-enforcement officers, court staff, victims, defendants, and members of our community. This experience has provided me with a unique understanding of how our courts operate and the real life judicial impact that decisions have on individuals and their families.

Every day, I witness the importance of treating people with dignity and respect while ensuring that the law is applied fairly and consistently. I believe justice requires both compassion and accountability. Every person deserves to be heard, every victim deserves to know their voice matters, and every decision made on the bench must be guided by the facts, the law, and impartiality.

Outside of the courtroom, I remain committed to serving our community. I am actively involved with the JB White Foundation, helping raise awareness about gun violence within our youth community while supporting scholarships for graduating seniors throughout Northern New Mexico. I also serve as a high school and college basketball official where fairness, integrity, consistency, and professionalism are essential every time I step onto the court.

As your Santa Fe County Magistrate Judge, I will bring more than a decade of courtroom experience, a strong work ethic, and an unwavering commitment to fairness. I will always strive to uphold the law with integrity, treat every person who enters the courtroom with respect, and work each day to strengthen public confidence in our judicial system.
